Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of managed care pharmacy directors, registered nurses, clinical pharmacists, quality directors and medical directors.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
Managed care professionals are tasked with staying up-to-date on multiple disease states to improve care management for large and diverse patient populations. Therefore, managed care professionals can benefit from timely educational opportunities that focus on the latest clinical updates and payer implications through peer-to-peer discussion to stay informed. In retinal disease management, specifically DR, payers need increased knowledge and competence to improve access and care for certain patient populations, including younger patients and underserved communities. This activity is focused on the results of one recent study focused on longitudinal trends and disparities in DR which showed an increase in the incidence of DR in younger patients (ages 20-39 years) and racial and ethnic minoritized patients. Clinical and managed care experts will review the study results and article below and discuss opportunities for managed care strategies to improve outcomes for these patients.
